space

We gave our architects, Kevin Fellingham and Nick Hornig a very simple brief: Mooli's are Old Delhi meets Tokyo. This was also the brief for an art competition we ran in January 2010 which was won by Rachel Mikulsky – the beautiful mural on the wall is her work.

The result is a clean, bright and seductive space – a continuous timber table-top sweeps along the northern edge of the space with numerous high bar-stools, creating varied 'mooli' settings for interaction: with the street, with friends over cocktails, a laptop or just admiring your own reflection in the mirror. The high tables at the centre can accommodate a group of about 12 people.

Numerous lovely people helped us with graphic design. Dan Einzig and Phil Seddon at Mystery developed our original logo, initial visualizations of the store and many of our strap-lines. Anita Mangan designed our simple menus, the A-board which draws in customers by the hundreds, the bike image and lots of our other posters. The talented Danielle Rhodes helped design this website as well as the toilets at 50 Frith Street!

Mowie, an incredibly passionate and talented photographer, spent many long sessions shooting our mooli’s and their ingredients. The food pictures on this website are all his work.
